Today, I am getting to play a tournament to practice what I have been working on in practice. I will focus on playing my game. If it doesn't work out, that is okay. I will play more tournaments and I will have more opportunities. I am prepared to battle today. It doesn't matter if the player is much better or worse than me. I will expect to fight for every single point.
I have an obligation to my parents, my coaches, and my future self to carry myself well. While it is normal to get frustrated, it is not okay to show my frustration. Not only will this spiral and hurt me, but it will also give my opponent confidence.
My coaching voice will remind me that enjoyment makes playing well possible for me. If I focus on appreciating this opportunity and not getting focused on results, it will be much easier to play freely.
