Today, I am playing my first tournament in a couple months. I have no expectations today except to compete well, maintain a positive attitude, and give my best effort to stay en route. I will play freely and I will have no fear in going for my shots when I have the chance. Even if I miss, I will reassure myself after the point that I am doing what I practiced. During the match, I will maintain high energy and positive body language. It is a gift to be able to play, so I will be grateful. I will remain mindful of playing smart as well. I will concentrate for as long as possible, and when I have a lapse in focus I will recognize it, go to my towel, and reset. Tennis is a game of errors, so it will be important that I play smart when I need to, such as playing deep to the middle on returns or by hitting high and cross when out of position. If I have a short ball, I will definitely attack, but I will focus on percentage tennis.
