Today, I'm in a tournament. I'm not too nervous. I have been playing well, but I know that I am just here to compete at my best. It doesn't matter what the outcome is of my matches as long as I compete well and carry myself well. I play my best tennis when I am confident and when I'm enjoying.
I have an obligation to my parents, my coaches, and to my future self to play without too much stress. I should only worry about the intensity I have, how well I am focusing, and how strong my body language is. These are all things that I have complete control over and things that will actually help me in my match. I will warm up with my coach before the match. I want to make sure to be very intense with my footwork and to do lots of serves. These are two of the biggest factors that decide if I play well.
My coaching voice will remind me that enjoyment is what makes playing well possible for me. Winning happens by itself. I simply perform. If I do everything I can control well, I will have succeeded. Finally, I will be ready to meet the unexpected. I know that things might not always be fair, but I will deal with problems calmly. If I am frustrated, I will take some time and go to my towel, relax my grip and reactivate my positive body language.
