Today, I am playing in a tournament. It is an opportunity to grow and improve, not a test of my value. Today, I want to only focus on my goals in each match, not on results. My coaching voice will tell me that all that matters is what I can control. I can control my focus, my intensity, my commitment to my strategies, and my body language. I can't control the other player and I can't control the outcome of the match.
I have an obligation to my parents, my coaches, and my future self to stay mentally strong. I will not give any negative reactions if I get frustrated. Instead, I will accept that it is normal to make mistakes and I will be positive and encourage myself if it was the right shot. Also, any negative body language would only hurt me and encourage my opponent.
My coaching voice will remind me that situations don't control me. I can control my response to situations by controlling how I think about them. Today, I will be a great problem solver. When problems come my way in the match, I will calmly accept them and work to continue fighting.
