Today, I will get the opportunity to play a tournament to test how much I have improved and practice dealing with pressure in difficult situations. I recognize that I might have to deal with things in my matches that aren't ideal, but these are opportunities to be mentally tough. Today, I will just enjoy playing. It is a beautiful day today and I am getting to play the sport that I love. There is no reason to worry or put too much pressure on myself because this is all just part of the process of getting better.
I have an obligation to my parents, my coaches, and my future self to carry myself well and enjoy playing. I have been training hard and I have gotten much better. I know that if I play and have fun, without worrying too much, then I am at least making progress the right way even if I don't win. My only goals for today are to be positive and energetic on court, to play with confidence, and to accept my mistakes as part of the process.
My coaching voice will remind me that enjoyment is what makes playing well possible for me. I can enjoy no matter what the situation is like because I am in control of my reactions. Mistakes are a necessary part of the process. As long as I learn from them, these mistakes will make me better. Today, I will be excited when problems come my way, because I am learning to be a great problem solver.
